The lid covering the switch is purposefully difficult to open.

Use a 20c coin or flat-bladed screwdriver to gently apply pressure to the ridge between the lid and adapter. Please see the below picture.

Wipe the area dry before making sure it is securely closed. Water can sometimes seep into this area. This is not a problem unless there is more than a spoon's worth.
